Eligibility, Terms and Conditions
1. Businesses must operate in Papua New Guinea and hold a current IPA number as per Companies
Act 1997. Exempted categories is the Women's Micro Bank Informal Business Award.
2. The following categories do not qualify for the Final Top 3 Awards.

❖ Tisa Bank Emerging Venture Award
3. Nominees must exemplify the following basic requirements:
❖ Positive Impact: They should demonstrate how entrepreneurship contributes to positive change.
❖ Financial Proof: Nominees must provide evidence of a personal banking savings account by including
relevant account information in the nomination form.
❖ Video Profile: Each nominee is required to create a 3-minute video profile to accompany their nomination.
❖ Market Presence: Nominees must have operated in the marketplace for a minimum of 3 years.
❖ Regulatory Compliance: Nominees’ businesses must be formally registered with the Investment Promotion
Authority (IPA), have a valid TIN, and other industry related requirements.
4. Locals in a partnership with a Foreign Enterprise must hold a current IPA number and show that
the entity is 50 percent or more controlled and managed by PNG citizens. The partnership must be
100% operational in PNG.
5. Businesses in the Young Entrepreneur Award, Start-Up, Market Meri and Informal Category must
be in operation in the last 3 years.
6. If an entry selects more than one category judges have the right to determine the most applicable
category without notification or consultation. Entries may be transferred to another category if the
judges believe an entrant would be more appropriately assessed in that category.
7. Entries are catalogued and are treated in confidence.
8. Information provided by the business may be used for promotional purposes. Information that is
confidential must be clearly marked. Award Sponsors have access to the entire finalist database and
may use this at their discretion.
9. Once entries have been received, information cannot be changed or added by the nominator.
10. Precedent Productions and the sponsors of the awards accept no liability regarding any loss of
patent rights or commercial returns arising from participating in the SME Award of Papua New
Guinea.
11. Entry is free and accessible online. Only digital nominations will be accepted.
12. Entries are catalogued and are treated in confidence.

17. Entry into the PNG Awards is not open to the Organizers Board, Executive Management, Staff,
Family and the presiding Judging Committee and Adjudicator or any of its related or controlled
entities. This includes all sponsors and stakeholders.
18. All entries for consideration must be lodged online and include all the required information.
19. PNG SME Awards accepts no responsibility for any entries lost in transit or not received by the
closing time due to technical disruptions or any other reason beyond the control of PNG SME
Awards.
30. All category winners will automatically become a national finalist in the PNG SME Awards.
21. PNG SME Awards reserves the right to declare any entry ineligible, if at any time during or after
the term of the award process your entry form is found to be incomplete, deficient, false, or
misleading in any way.

misleading in any way.
23. A false statement made by a nominee is an offence and will result in automatic disqualification
from the Awards.
24. A nominee is permitted to enter in 2 categories.
25. PNG SME Awards reserves the right to nominate any eligible entry ONLY if a category has 1 entry
after nominations have closed and ONLY during quality checks, prior to judging. PNG SME Awards
MUST disclose this information before the judges.
26. In situations where there is only one entrant for a category, this entry will be judged. Subject to
meeting a gateway score, the entry will become an automatic Finalist and will be awarded a Finalist
certificate and represent the category at the Gala event. They will be recognised at the Awards
dinner but will not be declared a Winner; they will be referred to as a Finalist.
27. Upon their submission pursuant to these Terms and Conditions, entries become the property of
PNG SME Awards. All information provided in the entry form will be used for the purpose of judging
only and will be treated as commercial-in-confidence by PNG SME Awards and any of its related or
controlled entities, unless otherwise specified.
28. If you are selected as a finalist in the PNG SME Awards, information provided in your entry
(excluding financial information) will be used for the purpose of promoting the PNG SME Awards and
your business.
29. Contact information provided in your entry form may be disclosed to sponsors for the purpose of
direct opportunities for promotion through sponsor partners. You can refuse the disclosure of
contact information to sponsors by emailing 2023awards@pngsmemagazine.org.
30. PNG SME Awards reserves the right to reallocate a nominator's nominee category placement, if a
nominee is found to be placed inappropriately.
